All 18 figures of the large market pyramid “come to life” and introduce themselves to the guests.
Among those featured on the pyramid are Duke Georg, the town’s founder; German mathematician Adam Ries; and Barbara Uthmann, Germany’s first female mining entrepreneur and braid manufacturer. Daniel Knappe—alias Caspar Nietzelt—recalls the great silver discovery on October 28, 1491, which led to the founding of Annaberg. Saint Anne, after whom the city is named, is featured on the market pyramid, and Georgius Agricola is honored as the mining scholar who wrote *De re metallica*, a seminal work for the entire mining industry. Various traditional crafts, such as miner, trimmer, and bobbin lace maker, are also depicted on the pyramid.
In addition, the beautiful Christmas tree is illuminated with its 800 lights.
