The annual “Mettenschicht” is a very old tradition among miners, which has been observed differently in various mining regions. It was the last shift before Christmas Eve, during which the miners would gather with their foremen.  The miners sat together comfortably, telling each other short stories and singing songs while eating and drinking.

Our guests celebrate together in the underground machine room, decorated with candles and brushwood, in a unique atmosphere.
Visitors are entertained with a program featuring music and the typical Erzgebirge dialect and are hosted by the association members.
Simple dishes such as rye bread with smoked ham and bacon fat, a bowl of lentils, and cold and hot beverages are also included in the price. A guided tour is not included in the price but can be arranged upon request prior to the event.
