Gabriela Surová

A creative soul from Jindřichovice in the Ore Mountains. An admirer of architecture and original stories, and one day, perhaps, a tattoo artist and gallery owner. A philosopher by training and a visual artist working on environmental issues. The central motif of my work is wings and individual feathers, which are drawn using a tattoo-like technique on paper. In several pieces, the drawing is complemented by paint, glitter, or shards of glass. The theme of wings has already appeared in my previous exhibitions (Karlovy Vary Regional Library and subsequently the Karlovy Vary Regional Library—Lidická Branch). Gradually, however, I discovered new techniques, such as shading with glitter on black canvas or drawing on a mirror. This exhibition will thus showcase the evolution of my wing drawings, as well as paintings inspired by a book whose story features wings, feathers, or arrows. During the exhibition, readers of romantic fantasy or dystopian fiction can try to guess which story served as the inspiration.
